Since its founding, all TRKT (TARIKUTI) garments have been 100% made in Bulgaria – initially in small tailoring workshops, as of 2023 in the brand’s own atelier.
After joining the family-owned consulting company WIRK, TRKT began collaborating with young designers – graduates of the National Academy of Arts and Nikolay Bozhilov – while employing some of the leading pattern makers in the Bulgarian fashion industry to create precise, high-quality cuts.
In May 2024, TRKT’s atelier was relocated from Sofia to the ancient village of Glava, whose heritage dates to the 15th century. At the same time, the company completed the full production cycle, ensuring that every part of the garment production is done entirely in-house – from the initial idea and pattern construction to the final product. This guarantees not only exceptional quality, but also fair compensation for the people who work at TRKT.
The atelier is housed in a traditional regional-style building that has been fully renovated inside to provide a comfortable and safe environment for its employees. The 90 m² space includes a charming design studio, a room equipped with professional sewing machines, and a storage area, offering full capacity for small series, boutique collections, and individual orders.
Fashion, Honey, and a Touch of Saffron
Or how two young professionals working with major international brands in the fields of digitalization and marketing decided to produce boutique clothing and honey.
During the COVID-19 crisis, the family of Emil and Maya Nenovi lived in the village of Glava for 10 months, and it was then that they decided to create a small production facility in this historic place. Founded more than 500 years ago on the fertile land of northwestern Bulgaria, today it, like other settlements in Pleven District, is threatened by depopulation. The lack of fair pay and sufficient work forces many locals to emigrate or work as seasonal workers abroad.
To help at least a little with its preservation, Emil and Maya decide to move in and become producers of boutique clothing and honey. As successful experts in the field of digitalization and marketing, and hereditary mathematicians, they initially got down to what they know best – learning. She enrolled in her dream course in fashion design, and he in beekeeping. At the end of 2022, the family purchased the paternal house of their friends and, in less than two years, transformed it into a boutique atelier TRKT with an apiary of 20 hives and a small saffron garden.
In this atelier, they produce high-quality garments for their brand TRKT (TARIKUTI) and craft delicious boutique honey. The entire production process follows the principles of sustainable and ethical business, continuously introducing new practices and technologies to maintain these standards.
Knowing how challenging the Bulgarian textile industry can be for emerging designers, from September 2024, TRKT-ATELIER also offers pattern making and production services for start-up fashion brands.
